Connect to Self: Everyone has fights with their friends. Some may not have fights at all, but they all do have disagreements. They can disagree on either decisions or they can brew up a negative emotion, like jealousy. Jealousy is one of the most common things to start a fight. For example, one friend is smarter than the other, so the jealous person will lash out his/her foul mood to the smart friend, making him/her sulky and angry as well. Or if somebody likes someone, but that friend likes that person too. Some fights are so severe that they end their friendship or at least have a tension between them. Sometimes it's best to have different opinions rather than the same. Compared to the society, it's much more different. Fashion, critique, or economy will get in a country's way. The loss of money can cause a great depression, so some conflicts are worth while. Racism is still a huge part of society today. Bureaucracy is still intense in the economy.

Timeline Progressing Towards War
1820: Missouri Compromise admits Missouri and Maine as free states
1828-1832: 2 tariffs were passed designed to help Northern manufacturers
1846-1848: U.S defeats Mexico and gained vast amounts of land in the Southwest (Mexican Cession)
1850: Henry Clay proposed the Compromise of 1850 to admit California as free state
1852: Uncle Tom's Cabin written by Harriett Beecher Stowe which exposes the cruelty of slavery
1854: Kansas and Nebraska were two new territories created by the Louisiana Purchase; proposed as the Kansas-Nebraska Act by Stephen Douglas, where both states would use popular sovereingty to solve the issue of slavery
1856: Popular sovereignty causes the war "Bleeding Kansas", with violence between pro-slavery and anti-slavery settlers
1860: Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, was elected; because of him, South secedes from the Union
Connect to Self: I would've taken sides with the North, because they found the truth about the cruelty of slavery and tried to abolish slavery. It's not right to treat slaves as animals, and the Southern farmers could've done the labor themselves. It's really no big of a deal. I feel that all citizens, no matter what class they're in, have equal rights, and the South should respect their slaves. They do know that without slaves, they wouldn't make much of a fortune. It's their fault for causing this dirty work anyway.
